Conference at the Gates 2017

Conference at the Gates is a protest/workshop/conference for academics and activists to resist both militarism and DSEI- the world’s biggest arms fairs. It will be a day of learning, resisting and collaborating, in an attempt to blur the lines between activism and academia. We have exciting workshops planned on the topics of:

  • Feminist/queer theory and activism
  • Borders and humanitarianism in the Mediterranean
  • Militarisation of education
  • The purpose of Radical Theory
  • Pop Culture and Militarism
  • Imperialism, colonialism and militarism

All workshops will be facilitated by academics and/or activists and will be informal and open to people participating on the day, without prior booking. You can find more information about the day on the Program tab, and about each of the workshops. We also have more information about accessibility under the accessibility tab and about our safer spaces agreement under that tab.

It is part of Stop The Arms Fair –  a coalition of groups and individuals who have joined forces to put an end to DSEI and all UK arms fairs. Conference at the Gates will take place on Friday the 8th of September from 9.30am to 5.30 pm, during Stop the Arms Trade’s week of action 4-11th of September, and is held outside the ExCel Centre in London where DSEI takes place.

To find out more about the initiative and rationale for this action, read our About page, and publications from 2015 Conference at the Gates, in the media section.
